What are the advantages of posting art articles online? The first one is to get your name out there. That doesn't mean your article doesn't have to be good. The computer mouse is the best critic there is because if you don't have the reader's attention, the mouse will click from your article in an instant. You have to have something to say, then be able to express it in a relatively short article, preferably enhanced with pictures or diagrams. Online surfers are turned off by a long page of nothing but words. Remember, you are competing for their attention with the entire world. You may only have them for a few seconds, so you have to make the most of it.

The more times your name is attached to something, whether it is a piece of artwork or an art article, the better your chances of selling your art. You can't afford to be struggling in obscurity. If you can figure out a way to have a unique "voice," then you may be able to develop a following for your art articles. That in turn can reach more people who will take a look at your art. The second advantage is that you don't have to wait for a magazine to look at your article, critique it, edit it, then maybe decide to publish some version of it.
