Art Blogs
Consider Writing an Art Blog
Art blogs can help the artist gain exposure and develop a following. Gaining visibility is absolutely imperative to selling your art. The art-buying public must become aware of you and the work you produce if it is going to sell. Increasing your visibility doesn’t necessarily need to cost a great deal of money. It will require a fairly substantial amount of your time however. Consider this as an investment in yourself.

One very positive way to get your name out there is to write an art blog that focuses on you, the artist, and the work you produce. Contributing to the blogosphere has become amazingly simple and is certainly worth your time.So what exactly is a blog? At it’s core, it is communication tool. “blog” is a combination of the words “web” and “log”. It used to be that some people kept a sort of on-line diary or journal of their lives. The focus has shifted now to more of a free-ranging give and take among people with at least some overlapping interests. What a great opportunity to gain some exposure for your work! We live in an era of “interconnectedness”, and this is such an incredibly great thing. It has never been easier to get your work in front of so many eyeballs. It doesn’t happen instantly, because people still need to find out about you, but it happens quickly if you spend time wisely. The good news is you don’t have to have exceptional computer skills, or even be particularly tech-savvy. There are sites on the web that will help you to set up a blog and will host it for you at no cost. Two of the most popular are Blogger.com and WordPress.com. I encourage you to go and spend a little time looking around these sites, and familiarizing yourself with the blogosphere. In part 2 of this article we’ll discuss setting up an art blog, and how to build readership.
